Notifications

Notifications are SMS text or email messages the SFS sends to the payer. Each type of notification has two templates - a template for email communications and a template for text message (SMS) communications. You can configure the communications using customizable templates.

Notification templates contain Flywire default content, but the branding and the FROM email address are configured in your setup. The default notification templates are used unless you configure a custom message.

There are two types of notifications:

  • Scheduled notifications are communications triggered by the schedule you have configured.

  • System-generated notifications are communications triggered by events, such as payment receipts or confirmation of a payer signing up for a payment plan. You can configure around 100 different system-generated notifications.

System-generated notifications cannot be turned off.

There are two notification formats - emails and text messages. Emails are used by default for all communications but texts can be configured for most types of communications.

Text messages require Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) agreement from the payer before they can be used.

Text messages are sent only if the payer has provided TCPA permission and the text message template exists. If the default text template is removed but a custom template is not added, no text message will be sent.
