What is real-time integration?

Real-time integration allows seamless data flow and enhanced financial management between the SFS and your institution's SIS/ERP. Real-time integration ensures instant, accurate, and up-to-date payment and payment plan information, benefiting both your institution and your payers.

Real-time integration requires work between your IT department and Flywire to configure the communication (or integration).

Which SISs/ERPs can I integrate with?

Flywire offers integration capabilities with SIS/ERP systems that leverage native APIs for seamless data exchange. If your environment does not support delivered APIs, Flywire has developed alternative integration interfaces. The available systems are listed below:

How do these integrations work?

This is a general workflow of how data flows between the SFS and your SIS/ERP.

Flywire sends various real-time API calls to your SIS/ERP in order to power the functionality in SFS. This process utilizes the following Flywire developed APIs:

Flywire API Description
RTSI

Real-time Student Information (RTSI) is an integration where Flywire pulls student information, transactions, balances, and other data from your SIS/ERP.

 
RTPN

Real-time Payment Notification (RTPN) is an integration that sends information about payments from the SFS to your SIS/ERP.

RPPN

Real-time Payment Plan Notification (RPPN) is an integration that sends information about payment plans to your SIS/ERP.
RT1098R (US only)

Real-time 1098t (RT1098T) is an integration that pulls 1098t data from your SIS/ERP.
RTSQ* Real-time Student Query (RTSQ) is an integration that queries the SIS/ERP database in bulk in order to power targeted communication.

*This integration is not available for all SISs/ERPs.

What kind of work is required for integration?

Integration between the SFS and your SIS/ERP requires your IT department to work with Flywire's implementations team. After you decide to do a real-time integration, Flywire will work with you to prepare your system.

Before an integration can be completed, you will need to:

  • Verify your system meets the system requirements.

  • Whitelist Flywire's IP addresses.

  • Determine whether your students will use SSO to log into the SFS.
